Valentine's Day 2020 fell on a Friday and the "Powers that Be" created a new company policy titled "Casual Valentine Friday". The reasoning behind this was to build workplace morale. As you know, Cupid used to fly solo back in the day but when Earth began to become increasingly populated, he needed help. So, Zeus ordered a legion of cherubs to help out. There are now 7.8 billion people on this planet which makes it very difficult to keep up the love matching, let alone the increased marksmanship needed to hit their target in such a dense population. Cupid was given the honor to fly solo again, sort of speak, by being the only cherub to participate in the Casual Policy as a test program. If all went well, the policy would be officially opened up to the Legion in 2025.

Cupid, being so overworked, was enjoying the stress-free atmosphere and got a little too lax. He was missing his targets, matching up the wrong couples, but that doesn't compare to the horrors that were about to take place. You see, all those errant throws were putting him behind schedule and Zeus was getting angry. Cupid didn't want to let down the other cherubs by having the new policy cancelled and them missing the opportunity to relax every several years, so he picked up the pace big time. But in his haste, he grabbed a quiver of lead arrows. Lead arrows are used to do the opposite of attraction, even make one repulsed of the first person they see. Cupid hit an unlucky combination of people which caused them to go to war. Soon, Cupid would earn the infamous title of "Apocalyptic Cupid".
